Andrew Friars is the Managing Partner of PwC Advisory Department in Poland. The practice comprises approximately 200 professionals working in the areas of transaction support, restructuring, governance, risk, compliance and consulting. In addition, Andrew leads PwC consulting business in Central Europe, covering 16 countries and comprising almost 1000 professionals.
Andrew has over 20 years of experience as a Management Consultant, advising business leaders across a wide range of industries, countries and cultures, including Europe, North America and Asia Pacific. He has acted as an advisor in start up, take-over and turn-around situations and has considerable experience in back office transformation. Andrew has led and advised on back office strategies and delivered large scale, multi-country, and transformation projects covering critical functional areas such as Finance, HR, Sourcing, Procurement, Contract Centres and IT. Before rejoining PwC he has worked as a Managing Director with Accenture in his native Australia.
Andrew is a pioneer of the Business Process Outsourcing paradigm, designing and delivering one of the first BPO engagements in Europe in the mid-nineties. Since then Andrew has worked with many clients around the world helping evaluate, design and then deliver on their sourcing strategies.
Andrew actively contributes to a number of thought leadership pieces in shared services and outsourcing. He is an experienced speaker regarding trends and observations on the shared services and outsourcing marketplace.
Andrew has also been a member of the faculty at several academic institutions including leading sections of an international MBA program run by the University of Illinois and has lectured at Edith Cowan University. In addition, Andrew has presented at and chaired several international conferences on several topics relating to back office optimisation. Andrew is an Australian Chartered Accountant. He holds a degree in Commerce (accounting and finance) and a degree in Science (pure mathematics) both from the University of Western Australia.
