PwC was born following a merger of Price Waterhouse and Coopers & Lybrand. The Firm's history is much longer, however, and can be traced back to the mid-nineteenth century.
The following events marked breakthrough points in the history of both companies:

Samuel Lowell Price opens his London office
1854
William Cooper opens his London office
1865
Price, Holyland and Waterhouse become partners
1874
The name changes to Price, Waterhouse & Co.
1898
Robert H. Montgomery, William M. Lybrand, Adam A. Ross Jr. and his brother T. Edward Ross set up Lybrand, Ross Brothers and Montgomery
1957
Cooper Brothers & Co (WB), McDonald, Currie and Co (Canada) and Lybrand, Ross Bros & Montgomery (USA) merge to form Coopers & Lybrand
1982
Global Price Waterhouse network of firms is established
1990
In many countries, Coopers & Lybrand merge with Deloitte Haskins & Sells
1998
Global Price Waterhouse and Coopers & Lybrand merger -PricewaterhouseCoopers is formed
2003
Separation of Business Process Outsourcing (BPO)
2010
PwC has refreshed its branding. The new branding includes a simplified logo consisting of the initials “pwc” in lower-case type. This formal shortening of the brand name will provide consistency and ease of use for PwC firms around the world.

Coopers & Lybrand Warsaw office opens, soon followed by a Price Waterhouse Warsaw office
1994
Coopers & Lybrand begin operations in Cracow
1996
Coopers & Lybrand open their Gdańsk office. Business Process Outsourcing Price Waterhouse opens in Cracow, accompanied by the self-standing Price Waterhouse TLS
1997
Coopers & Lybrand office opens in Poznań
1998
Global Price Waterhouse and Coopers & Lybrand merger -PricewaterhouseCoopers is formed
1998
PricewaterhouseCoopers offices open in Cracow, Gdańsk, and Poznań
1999
PwC Cracow Business Process Outsourcing office opens
2000
PricewaterhouseCoopers opens in Wrocław
2003
PricewaterhouseCoopers moves to a new building in Warsaw
2004
George Johnstone replaces Peter Driscoll on the position of PwC Poland Chairman

Separation of associated law firm Wierzbowski i Wspolnicy.

Olga Grygier replaces George Johnstone on the position of PwC Poland Chairman
