Every Year on average 450 clinical trials are performed in Poland with approximately 40 thousand participants. The cost of them amounts to around $ 1 billion. However there is an evidence that pharmaceutical companies in Great Britain spęnd almost seven times more in this field. This simple comparison indicates for a big potential of our country. Development of clinical trials stands for business opportunity for many scientific centers as well as medium and small size hospitals - both in private and pubic sector. Unclear legal regulations, long negotiating models and administrative barriers may be listed among the most common hindrances in our country.
The law binding for these matters refers to the nineties, with amendments following the access of Poland to the EU. What we lack is well developed ethics in clinical trials. The new bill currently under preparation by the Ministry of Health will introduce changes aimed at elimination of infringements which may appear at all stages of a clinical trial. The discussion is well under way. We would like to participate in this process and that is why we invite representatives from the Ministry of Health, public authorities , professional associations, pharmaceutical companies , insurance companies, doctors, lawyers and our guests from abroad to take the floor at our conference.
One can learn about everything in detail and present his/her opinion during the international forum „Clinical trials in Poland - Present situation and opportunities", which will be held on the 15-16th November 2010 at Polonia Palace Hotel in Warsaw.
