For the 13th time, PwC was cooperating with the Independent Film Foundation in the competition for the "Orły" (Eagles) Polish Film Awards 2011. As each year, our role was to exercise control over the correctness of the voting process, ensure credibility and maintain confidentiality of the results.
The “Orły” Polish Film Awards have been granted since 1999. The nominees and winners are selected in a vote by members of the Polish Film Academy, which is the equivalents of the national film academies that award the French “Cesar” awards, the Czech “Lion” awards or Spanish “Goya” awards, and at the European level – the European Film Academy granting the European Film Awards. The voting for the Orły awards is a postal vote, which takes place in two stages and is secret until the results are announced. At each stage, until the envelopes are opened, only two people know the results of the voting:
Krzysztof Szułdrzyński and
Adam Krasoń, PwC partners who personally supervise the correctness of the counting process.
The nominations for the Orły Polish Film Awards for 2011 were announced on 7th February. On 2nd March, the name of the winner in the Lifetime Achievement category was announced. This year the prize went to Tadeusz Chmielewski. On 7th March 2011 the gala ceremony took place at the Teatr Polski in Warsaw where the Orły Polish Film Awards for 2011 were awarded.
