Michael Perry, who is DJI’s director of strategic partnerships gave an update for CNN Money not only on DJI’s strategy but more importantly on the firm’s view of the whole industry. Perry thinks that the industry has come to a defining moment and will continue develop depending on how the consumers will start incorporate the technology into their daily lives.
It is why the firm chooses to change its orientation from manufacturers to consumers and believes that the form will follow its function. Thus, one way to approach the new consumer orientation is for DJI to develop its own apps. DJI’s end goal is to make drones as easy and approachable as smart phone technology.
Since DJI is one of the industries leaders, their strategy change will naturally impact the overall drone suppliers. Thus, it is reasonable to believe that drones will start to compete with each other with their software capabilities compared with today’s flying capabilities.
