Wal-Mart starts using drones for inventory within the next 6-9 months

06/06/16

Despite Wal-Mart Stores being still far away from drone deliveries, the firm decided to use the technology for a different purpose. The company claims it is six to nine months away from using drones to check warehouse inventories in the United States. This change will help Wal-Mart to keep up with competitor and lower their costs. As for now the company has bought custom made drones that are able to captured 30 frames per second of products on aisles. Moreover, the drones are able to alerted the user when product ran out or was incorrectly stocked

Walmart's Vice President of Last Mile and Emerging Sciences Shekar Natarajan says that the technology reduces the labour intensive process of checking stocks around the warehouse that used to take a month manually to one day.
