Lawyers from PwC Legal honored in the prestigious ranking Chambers Europe 2018

Three lawyers from the PwC Legal law firm: Arwid Mednis, Gerard Karp and Jean Rossi have been honored by the prestigious Chambers and Partners publishing house in the latest edition of the Chambers Europe 2018 ranking.

Arwid Mednis received an individual distinction in the area of personal data protection (Band 1) and for TMT (Band 3) practice. Gerard Karp is recommended for the practice of personal data protection law (Band 3), and Jean Rossi for real estate law (Band 4).

The annual ranking, created by experts from the prestigious Chambers and Partners publishing house, is produced on the basis of a detailed survey of law firms and interviews with clients. The following factors are taken into consideration: quality of services provided, number of completed projects and timeliness. The ranking is one of the most important publications on the legal market.

Arwid Mednis

Dr Arwid Mednis, at the law firm PwC Legal, leads the practice of new technologies law, including telecommunications and personal data protection law. He deals with issues of cyber security, personal data protection and access to public information. Arwid's specialty is also administrative law, in particular local self-government law and public-private partnership. From 1991 to 2000 he represented Poland on the Committee for Personal Data Protection at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg; during the years 1998-2000 he was its Chairman. He was a member of the GIODO Scientific Council and the author and co-author of draft laws on the protection of personal data and the exchange of economic information. He represents clients in regulatory matters, as well as in court and administrative proceedings.  He is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Law and Administration at Warsaw University, where he teaches, among other fields, access to public information, personal data protection and electronic communications law.

 

Gerard Karp

Gerard Karp is a partner and leader in the practice of technology, media and telecommunications, intellectual property law and personal data protection at PwC Legal. He specializes in law relating to new technologies, in particular the protection of personal data, the right to privacy and various aspects at the interface of Internet law, IT implementations and the broadly understood digital market. He has extensive experience in advising clients from the new technologies, e-commerce and commercial industries, as well as the banking, insurance and pharmaceutical sectors. In recent years, he has conducted many multidisciplinary projects combining the issues of e-commerce, personal data protection and intellectual property law, in addition to a number of implementation projects, including cloud-based solutions. He has advised, among other projects, on innovative BIG Data projects in the following industries: logistics, commercial and banking.

 

Jean Rossi

Jean Rossi is a real estate law practice leader at PwC Legal. Additionally, he is responsible for the French Desk at PwC. He advises clients on real estate acquisition and project financing. He has extensive experience in issues related to the financing and tax aspects of real estate transactions. He actively participates in the life of the French community in Poland. Among other roles, he is the president of the Union des Français de l'Étranger and the Conseillers du Commerce Extérieur de la France.
