This follows the announcement by the firm in October 2017 that it had chosen Lviv as the location for its third internal SDC in Central and Eastern Europe. The centre plans to employ more than 350 professionals over the coming years, and will be supporting the delivery of PwC’s full range of services - in audit, advisory and tax.
PwC has already had a very positive experience with setting up its own internal Shared Delivery Centres around the globe. The nearby SDC in Katowice, Poland, for example employs more than 1 700 people serving over 50 countries across the PwC network. Following their success in this space, PwC CEE has decided to open another centre in Lviv.
Adam Jamiol, PwC Partner and Leader of PwC CEE’s Shared Services Advisory Centre of Excellence commented: “Lviv was chosen as the SDC venue among several other potential locations across Central and Eastern Europe. Among the key strong points that led to the selection of Lviv are access to highly educated local talent, convenient location, open business environment, significant opportunities for innovation, and the growing role of Ukraine in the regional business community.”
Oleg Synyutka, Governor of Lviv region said: “Educated and professional personnel is one of competitive advantages of the Lviv region. Some 125 000 students receive higher education in local universities on an annual basis, and it’s very important for us that they are able to find interesting and well paid career opportunities in the Lviv region. We are very glad to have PwC here, offering these kinds of employment opportunities. For our part, we will continue to support the company and will be happy to initiate a dialogue between business and local educational system to adjust the curricula in a way that it supports a competitive labor market.”
The PwC Service Delivery Centre in Lviv will be the first of its kind in Ukraine. The SDC is being established to carry out a wide range of professional services tasks for audit, tax and advisory projects across PwC CEE. Cross-border cooperation constitutes a big part of its planned operations, which will help Ukraine to build stronger business ties with other countries in the region and the broader global business community. The opening of PwC’s Lviv SDC will help advance Ukraine’s regional development agenda. The Lviv SDC plans to employ more than 350 professionals, providing excellent working conditions as well as unique educational and career opportunities for young talent from all over the country.
Richard Pollard, PwC Ukraine Country Managing Partner added: “We are thrilled to embark on this journey together with the City of Lviv. We believe that our SDC will further improve Lviv’s international reputation and boost the visibility of the city and region. The PwC Lviv SDC joins a number of previously established Shared Services Centres in the city. As the first centre to offer high value added professional services, the Lviv SDC represents a new chapter in the city’s growing reputation as a regional business centre.”
Andriy Sadovyi, the Mayor of Lviv said: “PwC is a global brand, created by one of the best international organisations. In addition to creating more than 300 jobs by opening a business in Lviv, PwC is making a great contribution to the raising investment attractiveness of our city. This should help set the sights of other global players of the creative economy on Lviv. Thank you for this investment decision, and I guarantee our City’s full support of it.”
Iryna Maksymenko has been appointed as the SDC Director. Prior to taking on the role she has served as CFO for PwC Ukraine in Kyiv for 11 years. Iryna will be spearheading the effort of managing the centre and overseeing the recruitment process. PwC is currently looking for students, graduates and experienced professionals specialising in finance, IT related fields, payroll management, data analysis and software development.
