PwC Legal awarded as the most innovative law firm in Poland in the ‘Rzeczpospolita’ Law Firm Ranking

24/07/20

In the 2020 Law Firm Ranking, organised by the newspaper ‘Rzeczpospolita’, PwC Legal won the title of the most innovative law firm in Poland. This is yet another award for the law firm and its lawyers, after recommendations in the prestigious rankings of Chambers Europe 2020 and The Legal 500 EMEA.

It was the 18th time that the daily newspaper ‘Rzeczpospolita’ organised the Law Firm Ranking, giving awards and distinctions to the best and largest law firms in Poland. In this year’s edition of the ranking, the jury awarded PwC Legal in Poland the title of the most innovative law firm.

The transformation and development of new technologies are key elements to the success of a modern law firm and the most effective way to build a competitive advantage. It makes me all the more satisfied that PwC Legal in Poland received the award for its innovativeness. In our law firm, we use the latest technological solutions, including those based on artificial intelligence, to automatise the process of analysis and create legal documentation. We are one of the few companies on the Polish market to create our own LegalTech tools, for instance the DPO Tool, which supports employees responsible for personal data protection. Over three years ago, we opened the pioneering Legal Centre of Excellence (Legal CoE) in Gdańsk and its focus includes taking over entire legal functions (e.g. contract portfolio management) with extensive use of modern IT solutions.

In addition, the jury of the ranking awarded PwC Legal four distinctions for the law firm's activity regarding the coronavirus pandemic: for pro bono support for Polish entrepreneurs and the health service, as well as for the website devoted to legal advice and for organizing the law firm's work.

In March this year, PwC Legal in Poland received the title of Recognised Practitioner in the Corporate/M&A area, in the Chambers Europe 2020 ranking. What is more, for yet another consecutive year, an individual distinction was awarded to two lawyers from our firm – Gerard Karp in the TMT category: Data Protection, and Jean Rossi for legal advice on real estate. In The Legal 500 EMEA ranking announced in April, the law firm was recommended in six categories: Investment Funds (Tier 2), Data Privacy & Data Protection (Tier 3), White-Collar Crime (Tier 3), Commercial, Corporate and M&A (Tier 4), Banking and Finance (Tier 5) and Dispute Resolution (Tier 6). In the Dispute Resolution area, an individual distinction was awarded to the lawyer, Stanisław Żemojtel (Tier 1).
