The future in logistics lies in becoming environmentally-friendly and responding to customer needs immediately. This requires a continuous analysis of customer paths and coming to conclusions fast. Therefore, modern logistics cannot exist without the strong support of data analytics and tried and tested process automation tools.

The challenge today is to make logistic solutions as environmentally-friendly as possible. Our network of Parcel Lockers continues this trend. We have been able reduce harmful emissions in urban areas by 60 percent, and in rural areas by as much as 90 percent compared to traditional courier services. Of course, there is still the issue of the customer collecting the parcel without generating additional traffic. We are building our network so that our customers can pick up their parcels on their way to or from work or while shopping – parcels are already being picked up in this way by 62% of InPost Parcel Locker users. We are also building the network so you can go to the Parcel Locker on foot. In large cities, Parcel Lockers are already located within 450 metres of the average home. This distance does not require a trip by car. However, big cities are by no means the only area of InPost expansion. We are intensively expanding our network in medium and small towns and in villages. Parcel Lockers are already available to the residents of more than 2000 rural municipalities in Poland. Our ultimate goal in this area is to make them available to every potential customer in Poland. Today we already have more than 11,000 Parcel Lockers located throughout Poland. We estimate that by the end of this year our network will be available – within so-called walking distance – to about 75% of the population of Poland.

The “green” direction for the development of our industry also requires an appropriate fleet. Therefore our strategic objective is to intensively expand our fleet of electric cars.

The main focus of every courier is the proper calculation of routes and the related number of kilometres travelled by delivery vehicles. In order to manage them, we have implemented a system of intelligent courier routes based on ongoing data analysis. The route of each parcel is analysed on a continuous basis, which gives us the possibility of reacting quickly to the needs of our customers, such as redirecting the parcels, while at the same time optimizing the routes of our couriers. Today, a courier delivers more than 1000 parcels a day to the Parcel Lockers. Our ambition is to deliver far more.

Customers are now looking for various ways to make their everyday activities easier and our response to these needs was the creation of the InPost Mobile application. What is most appreciated is its convenience, speed and simplicity because due to its innovative functions and excellent UI, parcels can be sent 24/7, label-free, from any Parcel Locker. Lockers can also be opened remotely without having physical contact with the machine’s control panel. Cashless payments for cash-on-delivery parcels are also available in the App – this useful solution gives the customer full control over the order. The application is a tool that is and will be crucial in our communication with the consumer. We believe that the future of logistics lies in the mobility of services and the projects we are currently developing as part of our App are focused in this direction. Mobile solutions are definitely the future of modern logistics and you can be sure that we will surprise the market more than once with the ideas we are currently working on.
