Drone flights banned in Sweden

25/10/16

Recently Supreme Administrative Court of Sweden made decision that all camera-equipped drones are illegal to fly. Flights will be permitted only to prevent crime or accidents. The decision was a based on public privacy law, but people are questioning it as in Sweden it is legal to make movies in public places.

New regulation is a serious blow to Swedish drone enthusiasts and triggered number of negative opinions. According to Sweden's leading drone company “Unmanned Aerial System” it is possible that up to 3000 people from drone industry will lose their jobs.  It is also hard to say how public services will execute the law, as large number of drone operators are amateurs, what means their flights are hard to detect and evidence.
