Engineers at Urban Aeronautics are working on a large drone capable of both civilian and military applications, weighing in at over one ton. A combination of large propellers and a jet engine for horizontal flight, the drone will be capable of carrying half a ton of cargo. Range is set at four hours, or one hour fully loaded. While the drone is very large, it is still significantly smaller than a helicopter. The prototype has flown over 200 times; however, the drone will not be ready for use for at least another three years.
