One of the business areas that already has been changed by drones, is photography and film making. Drones became so important, that they even have their own drone photography competition which is supported by National Geographic.

The Dronestagram competition objective is to recognized outstanding drone photos. “A great drone picture is a picture that you immediately identify as a drone photo,” says Guillaume Jarret, Dronestagram’s head of marketing and development. He continues saying: “It is taken at a low altitude, near the target of the picture.” If you know what to look for, you can figure out that these pictures couldn’t have “been taken with a device other than a drone.”

According to Patrick Witty, who is one of the contest judges, capturing a perfect drone picture is “incredibly difficult.” This is due to the fact that until you not in the air you not aware what you will see from above. Furthermore, photographers have to multitask by both flying drones and taking pictures. Finally, the picture objective is much different from traditional photography and should show something that transports is to a place we never been before to.”
