With the growing negative effect of climate change, an increasing amount of regions are threatened by droughts. A team of scientists from Nevada was able to combine high-tech solutions such as drones and a meteorological strategy called cloud seeding in order to produce rain. The process takes around 18 minutes, during which the drone deploys silver iodide flares, that have a crystalline structure similar to that of ice. The silver iodide induces the freezing nucleation in clouds, which activates condensation and encourages clouds to produce rain. Once the testing phase is over, there is a high probability that with the technology humans will be able to manipulate weather and once for all reduce weather risk.
