The documentary "National Bird" by Sonia Kennebeck shows three U.S. government whistleblowers explaining about why drones may be dangerous to our society. The film shows how Kennebeck travels to Afghanistan to meet victims of an infamous drone strike. She argues that the drone program poses a threat not only to those civilians killed accidentally in Pakistan, but also to people living in America. "It's not just one person sitting there with a little remote control, a little joystick moving around a plane that's halfway across the world," says one of them. "This could grow to get so out of control and we're not the only ones that have this," she continues.
Despite the rather negative tone of the film, Kennebeck’s aim is not to form an opinion on the topic but to give the viewer enough information to understand the problem and initiate a debate on drones. The discussion on drone related threats gives us a chance to better understand the changes that this technology brings to the society. Furthermore, it shows us where regulations are needed to avoid the possible misuse of drones.
