Drone no-fly zones will soon enforce themselves

22/08/16

Apollo Shield is a new anti-drone system which will detect drones flying where they are not legally allowed to do so, and send a command to return them home. The shield contains a radio antenna paired with software. If successful, this program would address many limitations of current technology used to enforce drone no-fly-zones. In recent weeks, the an increasing number of drones have been caught trespassing in the Rio Olympics, causing near-miss incidents with incoming passenger planes near airports, and smuggling contraband into prisons.  We can expect that as drones become more common place, so will such programs.
