The idea of drones working together in teams is starting to become a reality, especially after Intel’s Pam Spring, California drone test. Not only was the company able to fly simultaneously 100 drones but also those were lit up and choreographed with music. The drones were able to create shapes similar to cylinders or a pair of wings, and changed their colours.

The main aim behind the happening was to promote large scale drone shows for outdoor events by Intel as also to change the overall publics negative perception of drones. In addition, the company hopes to increase the number of drones in light shows from 100 to 1000 and perhaps perform in stadiums or parks around the world. It therefore seems, that we are experiencing the birth of a new type of performance art similar to traditional fireworks.
