PwC Legal celebrates its 10th anniversary in Poland. The PwC Legal law firm operates within a global network of more than 3,500 lawyers in 97 countries around the world. Polish lawyers are regularly listed in the most prestigious rankings, such as The Legal 500 and Chambers Europe. Furthermore, they take part in innovative educational projects, such as Legal MBA and FinTech studies.

PwC Legal in Poland currently employs almost 80 lawyers that combine theoretical knowledge with many years of consultancy practice for Polish and international companies. Thanks to the trust of our clients, we have completed many demanding projects during the last 10 years, expanding our operations towards complementary and integral services. This is achieved through close cooperation with PwC experts in the areas of tax, audit and business consulting. PwC Legal services keep pace with the changing world; therefore, our work involves an increasing number of new technologies that enable us to better respond to the challenges of our clients.

PwC Legal operates in 5 offices: in Warsaw, Katowice, Cracow, Poznań and Gdańsk. It specialises in company law, including mergers and acquisitions as well as international restructuring; finance and banking; competition and real estate law; court proceedings; personal data protection; and intellectual property rights.

Awards

The law firm and its lawyers are regularly listed in the most prestigious rankings. In the Law Firm Ranking 2019 (Ranking Kancelarii Prawniczych 2019) organized by the Rzeczpospolita daily, the PwC Legal law firm has been awarded as a leading practice in Poland in the Company Law& Commercial Law and Private client advice categories. Additionally, the firm received a recommendation in the Personal data protection category, and two lawyers of the law firm were awarded individual distinctions

In the latest The Legal 500 EMEA 2019 ranking, PwC Legal in Poland was recommended in 4 categories: Commercial, Corporate and M&A, Banking and Finance, Investment Funds and in the Dispute Resolution category. Three lawyers from the law firm were awarded individual distinctions in the areas of personal data protection, TMT (Technology, Media and Telecom) and property law in the Chambers Europe 2019 ranking. The firm was also awarded the title of a Recognised Practitioner in the TMT category.

New technologies

New technologies are becoming increasingly important in the work of a law firm. The innovative PwC division, Centre of Excellence (Legal CoE) provides legal process outsourcing services. In their daily work, Legal CoE lawyers use a number of IT solutions enabling the automation of certain processes, including search & screening tools, case workflow trackers or collaboration platforms. Furthermore, CoE provides PwC Legal with a platform for verifying tools available in the market (including tools based on artificial intelligence technologies or machine learning). Furthermore, Legal CoE lawyers are involved in the preparation and structuring of data used by automation algorithms and participate in their creation.

Education

The law firm initiates and actively participates in educational projects, such as Legal MBA, which is an innovative training programme enabling attendees to develop the skills necessary to adapt to the changing legal and business environment. The programme is run together with the Polish Association of Corporate Lawyers (PSPP) and the newspaper ‘Rzeczpospolita’. The third edition of the programme will be launched at the end of September.

PwC Legal is also a key partner in FinTech studies offered by the University of Warsaw’s Faculty of Management. Recruitment for the second edition of the studies is now underway.
